David Gruber
Board Member
David Gruber is an active participant in the operational side of Murphy Development. As a board member and advisor, he brings diverse and protracted experience in the commercial real estate investment and development arenas.
David is the owner of Metro American Developers, LLC, a private commercial real estate investor specializing in the development and acquisition of office and industrial properties in Dallas and San Diego.
Prior to forming MetroAmerican Developers, Mr. Gruber was president and CEO of MEPC American Properties, the U.S. subsidiary of London-based MEPC plc, one of the world’s largest commercial property firms. MEPC American Properties owned and managed more than 13 million square feet of high-quality commercial space.
All properties were sold at the height of the strong real estate investment market in 1998 for more than $1.3 billion. When he joined the company in 1980, MEPC’s assets were valued at $80 million. In the early 1990’s when commercial properties were undervalued, Mr. Gruber led MEPC in its acquisition of several large commercial portfolios that added more than $600 million of properties over a three-year period. Mr. Gruber serves on the board of directors of several large private commercial real estate companies and the board of trustees of the University of Dallas. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Real Estate Council and The Real Estate Council Foundation, and on the boards of MEPC plc, the Real Estate Round Table, the Dallas Symphony Association, and as Chapter Chairman of Young Presidents Organization. Mr. Gruber is also a member of World Presidents Organization.
